Director of Product Management

At Courier, we are on a mission to make software-to-human communication delightful.

To do this, we want to do for notification infrastructure what Stripe has done for payments infrastructure by making building and sending notifications fast, easy, and delightful. We’ve created the complete user communication stack for developer teams: our API takes the tedium out of integrating various notification channels, while our Studio lets anyone design a message template and deliver the right message to the right user at the right time with a single API call. Email, Push, Slack, SMS, you name it.

We’ve raised $12.5 million from Bessemer Venture Partners, Matrix Partners, Twilio, SendGrid, Slack, and Y Combinator. We're fanatical about delivering an amazing experience to software developers of companies big and small, and our goal is to build a platform that developers don’t just use but one that they love. If you want to push the frontier in developer tooling, we want to work with you.

The Role

Courier is hiring a Director of Product Management to help us build the future of software-to-human communication. You will be responsible for managing the product roadmap, user stories, timelines, and implementation strategy for the Courier platform, as well as building and leading our product & design teams.

This role reports directly to the CEO and you will collaborate closely with our CTO for resourcing. On a typical day, you will be talking to customers, forming go-to-market strategy with the executive team, and collaborating on key technical architecture/resourcing decisions.

What You'll Do:

  • Understand the needs of software developers across the world who are sending messages to their users
  • Prioritize our efforts, continuously building and iterating
  • Ensure that product definition for the areas that you and your team works on is clear and of high quality
  • Manage a team of Product Managers & Product Designers, advising and guiding them as they autonomously make product decisions
  • Contribute to building and scaling the Product Management team and discipline
  • Partner extremely closely with engineering discussing and making architecture and product decisions alike
  • Partner closely with marketing, developer relations, & sales on go-to-market strategy
  • Partner with our CEO to establish a shared product vision across Courier

A few additional notes:

Location: This role is flexible - work some days from home and some days from our office in the SoMa neighborhood of San Francisco, or be in another state entirely.

Visas: Courier cannot apply for new visas for candidates but can transfer existing visas (please allow up to 8 weeks for the transfer after an offer letter is signed.)
