ABOUT the role

As a Software Test Automation Engineer at Ample, you will help solve very complex challenges involving electric vehicles, robotics and smart battery technology, by combining creative tech design with fast iteration. As an Ample Software Engineer you will work on problems that will require some thoughtful creativity. Your work will have a high impact and be deployed into production systems. You are goal oriented and operate with a sense of urgency.

You will build and maintain test automation infrastructure with hardware in the loop spanning different use cases and hardware setups. Your work will test and ensure the quality of various components of our system.

You will:

  • Design, develop & support test automation framework for testing with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)
  • Manage and maintain various test setups
  • Build and maintain functional automated test suites
  • Set up infrastructure to run tests in CI/CD
  • Work with developers to identify requirements for test automation framework
  • Guide software developers to create meaningful test cases


Our team is highly collaborative - we work in the San Francisco Mission District (near Caltrain and Bart). All employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19; anyone working for Ample MUST be fully vaccinated before starting.


  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, ECE or related discipline
  • Proficient in Python, C and C++
  • Proficient with Linux and embedded systems
  • Working understanding of Continuous Integration environments
  • Experience with Github actions, Robot Framework and Linaro LAVA is a plus
  • Experience with Jenkins and continuous integration systems is a plus
